Southern California Datsun Roadster Owners Club

For owners of Datsun, Nissan cars

Southern California Datsun Roadster Owners Club (SoCalROC) was started in February of 2000 by Andrew Murphy, with assistance by Paul Bauman. The philosophy of the club then was that it would be made up of Datsun Roadster owners who were dedicated to the driving and restoration of the Roadster. No funds were ever required. SoCalROC has always been a money-free club. It is based on a single philosophy: having fun. The philosophy that SoCalROC was based on then, still stands strong today; we are all about fun.

In 2006, Andrew Murphy turned SoCalROC over to Ron Eastman. Due to personal responsibilities and professional obligations, Ron turned the club over to Chris Breyer in 2009. In Ron’s words, “As the club has grown in the last few years, Chris Breyer has been serving as membership director, organizer and newsletter editor/publisher. Chris will be taking over the helm as President of SoCalROC.” Chris has been able to establish some strong relationships for the club, and continues to cultivate new ones as President.

Each year, SoCalROC organizes or partakes in fun-runs, car shows and BBQ’s. For example, in November of 2008, an annual Toy Drive at the Datsun Heritage Museum in Murrieta was started. It was organized and sponsored by SoCalROC. Of course, we also strongly participate in the Solvang show every April. SoCalROC members are encouraged to participate in club activities. In addition, if any member wishes to have a BBQ or put together a fun-run or any other event for the club, SoCalROC will help promote it and get the word out. All members are kept informed of SoCalROC’s happenings via email. SoCalROC’s monthly publication “Roadster Ramblings” is sent out to all members by email, as well. You must register as a club member on this website to join the club and receive these communications.

SoCalROC is now over 100 cars strong and growing. Are you hesitant to join the club because of the condition of your car? If your Datsun Roadster is beat up and in need of some major body work, maybe we can help. If your car is not running, maybe we can help. If it is running but you are too embarrassed to drive it with the group because of how it looks, come join the fun anyway! The great thing about our members is that we don’t care what condition you car is in. Many times club members have gathered to help get someone’s car going. SoCalROC is a great network of Datsun Roadster enthusiasts. With SoCalROC, we are not just members of a car club, but we are truly friends who are here to help each other.

What's this?

If you're reading this, you've probably seen these odd links with funny names somewhere on the site and want to know what they're all about. Well, prepare to feel a bit more Net savvy. Those links are what the geeks call "social networks."

Social networking sites allow you to store and share links and pages across the Internet. It's like taking your bookmarks list and being able to see it from any computer.

Even better, social networks allow you to steer friends, relatives, colleagues and pretty much anyone else to the cool stuff you've found, so they have something better to do online than watching the skateboarding squirrel video on YouTube for the thirtieth time. You're making the world a better place.

The only catch is that while all the social networks are free, you do have to register. Each site has a slightly different focus, so take a look through the links and see which service suits you best.
