World’s Largest Miata Race

Mazda and Traqmate are hosting the world’s largest Miata race at The Mitty. How big is it? As big as possible! We hope 500 cars or more enter. The top cars from two qualifying races will make up a feature race grid of about 72 cars.

What are the classes?

  • Showroom Stock: Showroom Stock B or C Miatas that adhere to the rule set that was in place when they were originally run.
  • Spec Miata: Miatas that meet current SCCA SM specifications.
  • MX-5: MX-5 NC-model cars, including SCCA T2, Skip Barber MX-5, or MX-5 Cup Pro Series cars.
  • Open: SCCA Production class Miatas, FP or EP, and NASA PT class.

What are the prizes? We will have a trophy, plaque or prize for first, second and third places, as well as an overall Miata cup. In addition, Mazdaspeed has committed to $2000 in prize money:

  • 1st: $500.
  • 2nd: $300.
  • 3rd: $200.
  • Ten additional awards of $100.

Grassroots Motorsports has also promised the following prizes. To collect them, the recipients must be GRM subscribers before the start of the race:

  • $250 to the overall winner.
  • $100 to each class winner.
  • $100 to the 25th place finisher, to celebrate our 25 years publishing (and because we like to root for the little guy).

Traqmate will be have these awards to the top three cars per class that have a Traqmate installed and which have Traqmate decals:

  • First place: $150.
  • Second place: $100.
  • Third place: $50.

Stay tuned for details on additional prizes.

When is it? Practice and qualifying will be Friday and the feature race will be Saturday.

What does it cost? $275 for three track sessions: one practice, one qualifying, and one race.

Where can I sign up? At the HSR Web site. The race will be sanctioned by HSR and will use SCCA rules. Both NASA and SCCA licenses will be accepted.
