May 02 - May 09 at South Bend, IN
The Tire Rack One Lap of America is an homage to the infamous Cannonball Run, a high-speed—and highly illegal—cross-country dash on public roads. Today, the pace on the street is meant to be within the realm of legality, but the thrill of speed comes at various track events along the way.
Competitors start and finish at the Tire Rack headquarters in South Bend, Indiana. Over the course of eight days, they travel thousands of miles of highway while hoping their cars stay together at each track event. One Lap is a brutal test of both the car's durability and the drivers' patience, stamina, stress control and, of course, driving skill. Track events are primarily time trials on road courses, but also include autocross, drag racing and paved ovals.
