Wow. I'm sorely tempted by stuff like that.

Any ideas what that "lift kit" might be?

Here's a $1,500 S320 from 1994 that I saw on CL a couple of days ago.

I know that we're not afraid of Benz's anymore, but is this car as bad an idea as it sounds? I mean really....what could go wrong??

In reply to mrwillie:

Its had rims put on it, so its probably been on the deferred maintenance schedule for quite a while.

I think the "lift kit" is to allow the hoopties to be mounted! Looks like it is in good condition, but I still think running away is the best plan!

My guess on the lift kit is the set from "universal car lifts" Link to site

I've been looking at them myself for the cop car, but they seem to make them for everything fairly inexpensively.

I'm not sure how "rims" = "deferred maintenance". Please explain....

It's $1700 bucks......are you guys really expected a fully maintained, unmolested s500 for that? That's basically parts car money for one of these.

In reply to Cotton: Not even close. My first thought for this car was to strip the interior and track it.

In reply to mrwillie:

You could make a lot of the purchase price back stripping and parting that interior.....lots of good stuff there.

Stereotype of "spent on the sweet rimz rather than spent on maintenance."
