Me and dad were talking, and I know we are in a new phase with the hotel being under new management. Let’s show them what kind of group we are and all leave a positive (5 star) Google and/or Yelp review. It’s a small gesture that can go a long way to help the hotel.

I know everyone was upset last night because the manager had stuck to the pool area closing hours, but I discussed it with him this evening and his reasons were valid.  I'm glad nobody decided to take out their frustrations on him for just doing his job.   It sucks that in years past we had free reign of the place, but I understand where they're coming from and coming back to the same place every year is a very nice thing to be able to do.  It feels like home when we come here.

Good idea and done they not only turn a blind eye to but seem to encourage a lot of shenanigans

Pro-tip: We just waited till homeboy's shift was over & had free reign Thursday/Friday but did it quietly.

The weird thing is, they used to move us to the pool area & didn't want us hanging in the parking lot, & now it's opposite day.

Stampie, deadslead & I pulled security duty last night on "Weird Wayne" who was cruising the parking lot every 30 minutes lookin for E36 M3 to steal.

Thanks for that. I had no idea there was even a potential issue there.

Weird Wayne was a little off. If he wasn't checking out the trailers at 3am he'd be like one of us. Wait, don't know if that disqualifies him.

"Normal Wayne" (lololololol) wants me to clarify that "Weird Wayne" is not his alter-ego.

"Weird Wayne" was some sketchy dude cruising the parking lot all night asking sketchy questions. If only frosty-tip-pool-nazi really was as vigilant about security as he was the hot-tub.....

Homeboy was wandering around the hotel with a berkeleying crowbar at 3AM.

I figured Weird Wayne was the stage between Normal Wayne and UberWayne

I'd gather a guy wandering around a parking lot at 3am with a crowbar is grounds for calling the police

Ok, I was wondering, regular Wayne did not seem like a dude that was gonna steal E36 M3.

Long story.

We went to the front desk after multiple weird encounters with Weird Wayne. He had been staying at the hotel for weeks. We had his tag number, & it matched the hotel's records.

It'd take a lot more than being weird for me to call the cops on someone.

Those woods behind the hotel look pretty thick, it’s downhill from the back parking lot, and obviously all our noise must not travel up to the guest rooms...

I literally spit a mouthful of quesadilla onto the floor.

I told swmbo I had to tell her the story tomorrow when I'm less sleep deprived/drunk.  Dude was out there.

Don't worry guys, we weren't leaving your trailers unguarded.  Well, until we ran out of beer... And mixer.

I figured 4am - whenever breakfast is served was a short window for dude to call his meth sponsor and tell him the coast was clear.

Turns out "weird wayne" was just "weird."

On the odd chance anyone is missing anything, the hotel has all of his info.

FWIW: Guarding the parking lot was DEFINITELY not just a convenient excuse to hang at "the bar" and tell dead-hooker jokes till 4AM.

In reply to Pete Gossett :

From what the previous(?) hotel manager told me back in the day after he so graciously did not press charges after "the incident" involving the Boss Hong:

They deliberately booked "Challenge rate" rooms in a U-shape around the pool, and wanted all late night partying to occur pool-side.

We (and I mean a LOT of "we" - 20-30 people) had been hanging out front near the banquet hall/in the parking lot all weekend till 2-4AM, and apparently they had a lot of noise complaints. We offered to work as "Hong Security" for the remainder of the evening in exchange for diplomatic immunity, wrangling everyone TO the pool area.

Seems like that area directly across from the bar might be the hot hangout spot next year, where we wouldn't be bothering anyone.

Also, didn't occur to me until just now, but we have a portable hot-tub...and a generator.......

If you’re going all-out, a couple tarps & a hose could make a waterslide down the back hill too.

We're going to need some crash barriers at the bottom or someone is going to end up wrapped around that oak tree.

Bonus points if you make a hat outta live mice with their tails tied together to feed the owl.

Carpet matt softens the blow from repeated full speed belly flops, and I've heard tell industrial grade painters plastic gets pretty fast when properly wetted.

Well, this may be a Minor Confession and may be a Minor Win.  The Confession is that I didn't attend the challenge (wanted to - does that count?).

The Win?  Yelp doesn't know if I stayed there or not.

Believe me, the BW Gateway Grand is a GREAT hotel ;=)
