I am looking for a RUST FREE 86-91 Mazda RX-7 with a blown engine or no driveline for use as a solid platform to build upon. I am willing to travel up to about 10 hours from Cleveland to pick it up. The car I have been working on is far too rusty to restore. The floorpans, rocker panels, frame rails, and rear wheel wells are toast, and I have run out of energy/ motivation to complete it. The car doesn't need to have any driveline or interior pieces, as I can swap in parts from my car. I am willing to pay up to $500 for a rust free specimen with a clean title.

I could probably help you as well, but the distance... Chucktown is a fur piece from Cleveland. Maybe someone's going north with a trailer?

Same here in SoFla. Every Mazda shop has 2 or 3 out back for cheap. Much temptation, no cash.

Looks like my only option is a southern car. All the cars in the north are roughly in the same condition as mine. I looked at a couple more in the area over the weekend with the typical pinch weld/rocker panel rot.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to ship one affordably? It looks like the shipping companies want between $700-1000 to ship a car from South Carolina to Cleveland. It looks like it will cost $400-450 in fuel, and about $100 to rent a dolly. Is borrowing a truck and renting a tow dolly the best option?

Check out Craigslist in Michigan. I saw a $650 shell in, I think Ann Arbor, that had a Granny's Kit installed but no motor or tranny.

Brain Fart! The car was on the Chicago list.
