That's GRM salsa, didn't you know that? Gear lube is the stronger tasting dip.

ahh, that makes more sense now...
I am at the point where everything is torqued down and ready to go back in... I am hoping to have the tranny back in and all the bolts torqued today... (dark in 3 hours) and then reattach driveshaft, exhaust, and undertrays tomorrow morning... :)

Easy...just like the instructions say.

try to jack up the front of the motor as much as you can so the trans can be installed on an angle.
and get someone to help you! holding a trans in place with one hand and fumbling with the mounting hardware with the other is a huge PITA

got the motor tilted... managed to get it high enough, now I can't get it all the way in... I lined everything up with an alignment tool when I installed it... but it's seeming like it's getting all the way into the friction plate splines, and then missing the pilot bearing.... any tricks there?

two floor jacks under trans, one at front and one at rear. that way, you can tweak the height and the angle independently. keep trying.
then walk away and come back a couple hours later. sometimes walking away is the key step in the process.

2: Biggar hammer
3: When all is broken give remaining bits to QuasiMofo for a Chevy V8 swap.

got beer... got two jacks... slid right in! :)
all that's left is the exhaust, and torquing all the driveline bolts down (driveshaft support and trans support bolts)... then the heatsheilds... slave cylinder... and (fingers crossed!) I should be able to drive it tomorrow morning!
