not mine, no affiliation. the parts cars are bugs, and the karmann is an automatic, but it's got a sweet set of empi 8-spokes: dig this!

I sure would like to do a Karmann Ghia project, maybe stick with an air cooled engine and add lightness, nothing over the top like my bug has been. Not useful for the above post. Just saying, I'm a huge sucker for the styling, especially the non-verts.

I've been starting the next project in my mind, after the bugeye, after the RZ, and the Swift, and its very similar. I'm just thinking mid engined Subaru power. oh, and junky, you know, like the Millenium Falcon-the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

Those bugs that come with the KG look savable too. Good deal for $1,500.

There will be another ACVW in my future. I just need to buy some land....and a barn!

What all have you done to the bug? Just curious because I have a 60s Baja bug I've been tinkering with.

Meh, it's quite an odd duck...it's a (factory) convertible, and it had been converted to a baja before I got it. I got it when I was 15, so you can imagine that the quality of work has improved over the years. It currently sports big tires, jacked up suspension, zero rust, Chevy 4.3 engine, Porsche 901 5 speed trans, a huge fuel tank where the back seat used to be, and a radiator where the fuel used to be. If I could do it all again, I wouldn't do the powertrain swap anything like this, but I suppose that's how you learn. I had nearly zero money into the work I've done to it over the years, money dictated parts selection when I was in college.

He's in Mooresville, right around the corner from me. Should mean little to no rust, assuming they were always southern cars.

I had a couple Corvairs back in High School / College & always thought a KG would be fun too.
