I would not feel bad if I had $3k into that car with everything right. At the likely $1k purchase price that leaves you a lot of room to fix the exhaust and whatever else it may need. At 112k miles it can not be that bad. I would expect it to sell fast. Heck, do nothing to it and relist it at $2k for a quick flip.

If I were closer, I would buy it, wet sand and re-clear it, fix the exhaust (a WHOLE new one from the manifold back is still only $200-$300 if you do it right), put in a radio, and list it for $3000 on cl... sell it for $2250-$2500... :)
