So....I just put a deposit down on an '08 Mazdaspeed 3.
My dark green 4-door Integra daily driver just rolled over 200,000 miles, and is fairly worn out by most measures, so I figured it was about time to look for something a little newer. Original shocks, bushings, engine mounts, clutch, ABS pump are all in need of replacement. I recently replaced the timing belt and water pump, so they're good for a few years. It needs oil added every week or two, though it's not leaving much in the way of puddles and doesn't smoke, so I'm not sure where it's going (although there is plenty of oil on the engine - I guess that's what you get with gaskets this age). It still looks good, though it has some love bug paint pitting on the front, and 15 years worth of door dings. Glass and paint is all original, except for the rear bumper cover which has been replaced/repainted a couple times due to minor rear-enders (which didn't damage anything but the bumper cover and the exhaust pipe on one occasion).
So the dealer that's going to sell me the 3 is offering $500 trade-in on the Integra, which is about what I would expect for a trade-in of a 15 year old car with 200k miles on it.
So my question is, is this car worth significantly more than that either in whole or in pieces, to others? You don't see a whole lot of these on the road anymore, so I assume used parts are easy to come by.
Thanks for any input! Or offers.
