You've gotta love a car where "runs great but developed an electrical glitch" = "I'll help tow the car"

I suspect the only way to make a good Biturbo is to weld its body panels onto another car and call it a day. Well, maybe move those fine Italian leather seats too.

Or introduce it to Mr. Goodwrench's LSx

Most mechanical devices are pretty reliable right up until they're not. That good period is just immeasurably small on a biturbo.

  • June 24, 2010 3:15 p.m. midknight Reader

Yeah, I dream of an LSx in one of these, but I think the electrics would still drive one crazy unless you rewired the whole thing.

    In reply to midknight:

Naturally. I think they are very good looking cars. One with a proper engine and proper electronics would be nice. Of course, you'd be destroying its namesake. Have to call it the Maserati Noturbo, hmmm...or, better yet, hang a couple of turbos off the LSx

Oh Crap, this is like two miles from my house. Lawd the temptation. I am trying to sell stuff so I can go shopping at Karl's, so must resist, must resist...must resist.

I still want one of those. lol I am not of the opinion that everything is better with an LS1 though, Id probably try to keep the Maserati engine running. Im sure they are pretty terrible for a expensive new car, which is where they earned mst of their reputation, I wonder if they are really that much worse than anything else for a $1k project car though.

    Engine rebuilt and transmission replaced.
Who wants to bet the car has just over 50k miles on it (or less)?

I see nothing wrong with these that megasquirt, a painless wiring harness, PCD variation bolts and a new set of seats wouldn't fix. What is that? about $1011 worth of repairs?

I think you should get one and do just that. Id like to see how it would turn out to fix one up with the same mentality as your fiat, rather than using one as an expensive appliance (like when they were new), or a beater or garage queen (like they are now). I still want one, i just want to see someone else do it first to see if my thought about them are mostly correct.

Meh. It'd still be an ugly weird looking Euro car from the 80's that looks like something that Clarkson would buy to fail a challenge.

    Can't right now.

There is a very nice cosmetically '84 here in town that doesn't run. It is at a Mechanics shop. I offering fair amounts ($700 was the most I've offered) but they won't let it go for less than $2000.

It is going to sit there and rot. :(
