Yeah, Chevy actually offered a Chevette GT.... or at least I remember a top model with "full" instrumentation and performance gearing for the rear end.

"What makes a GT?" To me, what makes a GT (whether or not the manufacturer calls it that) is a car with more than adequate power, good front seats, a fuel tank that allows 350-400 miles between stops, and a trunk that can hold a few overnight sized bags. A Miata COULD fit that description, but since I've not driven one, I don't know whether I would call it's available horsepower as MORE than adequate. An RX7 or RX8? Is the fuel tank able to get you 350-400 miles between stops?

A Miata is not a GT. GT means "grand tourer," i.e., a car that can comfortably gobble up large numbers of miles at high speed.

Typically they are two-seaters or two-plus-twos. They are usually not as "edgy" as a sports car, but still handle better than the typical car. Not all sports cars are GT cars, and not all GT cars are sports cars, but there is some overlap. A 911 is a GT car and a sports car. An Aston Martin is a GT, but arguably not a sports car. Bentley coupes are GT cars, but certainly not sports cars.

I would say that Certain Astons are GT's and Certain ones are both. The DB9 is a GT. The DBS, maybe both. The Vantage maybe both. The Vanquish, Definately a GT.

most current ferrari's (barring the F430) are GT's

The Chevette GTs I remember seeing, if that's what Chevy called their sportiest Chevette, had a different side stripe (this one looks aftermarket), had special turbine-look wheel covers that MAY have come on wider than "normal" wheels...but the wheels were still 13" in diameter, and had no factory installed wings/spoilers or louvers.

    Interesting cat, tho.

    how are the floors? solid?

The floors are pretty good, drivers side footwell is the worst, no holes but it's pretty thin. I would replace that one, otherwise pretty solid.

The bike in the first picture is a TZ250 with an MZ660 engine, work in progress.

If it has the true GT equipment I may be interested. Got pics of the gauges and exhaust manifold?
