I got your motor sitting in my shop. 2.0LT or an SVX 6 cyl.

    Care to take a look??

Call me if you get a minute.

I saw a Vanagon drive by the other day with a really loud BOV, figured it must have been Subie powered. That would be a decent ride, I think. We used a Westy pop top Vanagon in Hawaii for a week or so and it was a perfect car for that, but could have used a bit more power. Of course, after you gave it a bit more power it could probably use a reworked suspension and brakes, but that's besides the point.

VW Vanagon: 67 tired little ponies.

230 hp of fire breathing Subie goodness- PRICELESS!

Ever seen a breadbox do wheelies??

Well it made 155k miles on Vdub power. No mention of rust.

Not really a bread box but as close as I could get...

They had this car in a book about dragsters in my 3rd grade class. I kept it in my desk for months...

A loooong tme ago, a magazine (European Cars, I think it was called) has a short article on a Porsche powered Vanagon. It was a 3 liter Porsche and since the Vanagon was already a water-cooled model, the conversion was fairly straight-forward. I imagine, tho, that a Subie conversion might be cheaper.

Did they make a 4WD Vanagon? I remember seeing one with a 911 engine, 4WD. Cool even without the four wheel peel.

Yup, the "Syncro" was the AWD Vanagon. When I was a teenager the Hot VW's magazine had a SBC powered Syncro pickup Vanagon. It gave me naughty dreams.

Type I bus here but it cracks me up. There are a bunch of hill climb videos of this one too.

It looks like it sold while I was out of town. I will keep my CraigsHelper search dialed in if it pops back up.

I think you mean Gen 1. Type 1 is a Beetle.

I love that 911 video. Isn't that an Aston Martin he tears up in addition to the Porsche? Anyone read German??

I've seen footage (I think of the same event) from inside the Bus.

Keep your eyes open. I'd especially like to have a Gen 1 Bus (That was my first car).

    Thanks!

Yep, didn't mean to trip anyone up. The Germans have further diluted the Transporter designation with Type I, II, III, and IV as well.
