Really, do they sell for this? $8550?? I thought at least the VW interior would be Recaro. Totally stock.

Interstate 55 - Exit 41 north of St. Louis. I have been here before. I cannot resist stopping and checking the cars out. What would you do with the Olds and Chevy?

I've been there a couple times. Lots of rusty stuff I wouldn't be too interested in messing with. They do have some interesting stuff sometimes though.

Is that the place that had the super-long FWD limo/wagon thing a couple years ago?

I have been there 8 or 9 times. In my opinion, HIGH for what you get, I don't know how they sell anything at those prices.

I was there three weeks ago after an aborted trip to a car show in Chicago. After the six hour drive up there only to be rained out me and a friend needed a consolation prize: His was going here, mine was eating at Culver's.

I agree that most of the stuff there was way overpriced. These was some neat stuff (did you see the black and yellow MG with wire wheels?) but there was tons of rusty junk that looked like it had came from the bottom of the ocean.

I'll try to get my friend to post pictures of a Fiat he was thinking about buying after seeing it online. Meeting it in person quickly changed his mind.

Also, the first thing I thought when I saw that VW was that people on here would cream themselves over it.

In the '70s and '80s I read a lot of VW mags, like VW and European Cars....before it became just European Cars, and I don't recall ever hearing of/seeing a "factory" Trans AM package. I suppose it's possible there was one and I never heard of it, but most German car manufacturers included a set of Recaro front seats on their special editions...even (German-built) Fords.

About a year ago I (stupidly?) passed on buying a 'Rocco of near the same vintage. It was stock, lowish miles and had a sunroof, I think. The guy was driving it off and on, so it wasn't just pulled out of long term storage. His asking price? About 1/4th the price for this car. I didn't buy it because I thought it might not have enough headroom for me to drive. Yes, I'm still kicking myself, and still watching Craigs to see if it comes up again.

The Olds doesn't look too bad, but the '55 Chevy is bent in the middle...it looks like they picked it up with a forklift and the frame was so rusty it gave way.

I'm not sure the 55 is bent in the middle, I think the passenger fender is so rusted it's falling off. The drivers side doesn't look as bad from what I can tell. It does look pretty rusty and stripped though.

Whatever their prices...it is cool to see a place with so much iron just there to be checked out. A wide variety too.
