I think the price already removed the temptation for me - Is it wrong that I find any car over $2k obscenely expensive?

Not at all!
But my 83 320i had over $2k in it when I sold it and it was just a 4 cylinder.

And that Jag is beeeeautiful. I once had a non-running XJ12L that I gave up. At the time (hell, maybe still) it was far beyond my skill level.
