They're really not that complicated. Change the timing belt and you should be good to go.
In a pinch, I ran a Fiat twin-cam on three cylinders, with the temperature gauge in the danger zone for the best part of a hot day, and it got me home. Cracked the head gasket of course, but it still ran fine for quite some time after that.

Bring it to BABE slick, if you can make it to NYC there's at least 2 of us on the rally with enough Fiat/Lancia experience to keep you alive.
As Luke said, change the timing belt asap!
