I am tempted, myself, to call these guys but lack of a space to work on this is holding me back.

As always...not mine and no affiliation. AND IT'S NOT IN ATLANTA!!!!

BTW, who parks a car that is running/driveable, then lets it sit? I see this "ran when parked" crap all the time, and I ask myself "did it REALLY run?" And if it did, why didn't you try to sell it then?

I have. My 70 Chevelle was running when I parked it and transferred the plates to the RX-7. That was 5 years ago.

    Shame on me.

I have. My '75 280Z has been hibernating in my garage for a few years. It ran like crap last fall when I started it up but then I remembered that the gas was over three years old. Grad school has been keeping me really busy.

I've got a 57,000 mile ,1991 GTI 16V that I drove into the garage at least 8 years ago.

    "Ran when parked"

Didn't stop, shift or turn...but it ran!

jim-bob and Deadskunk, when you "parked" your pride and joy it was in a corner of your garage, unlike this car...shoved into a hedge.

If anyone has looked at the ad: isn't this actually an '86 or '87 XR4? I know the late cars had the single wing and didn't have two tone paint jobs, I just don't know when the "changeover" occurred.

its an 88 or 89 based on the single rear wing.

yep, the wheels, quarter windows, badges and wing all say it's an 88 or 89.

Ok, just spoke with Jesse, one of the guys listed on the ad. Says the car has been beat to death, prior owners "raced it like a racecar", and everything on it needs rebuilding or attention, including the engine and turbo. He mentioned that the sunroof probably leaks. Said he bought it for $500, spent $350 to get it home and put a couple parts on it, but has never driven it. Want $850 for it, but swears the beat to death parts are worth $5k if you parted it out. Reminded me that it was built for the autobahn (Umm...don't thing that's a Cossie motor under there). Well meaning and I did appreciate his honesty on the condition of the car. Admitted "Someone's gotta put a lot of money into this car." Apparently he doesn't know what you crazies can do on a grassroots budget. As I was hanging up he said "I need $850 to get to zero, but if you want to offer me less, call me back!" I'm not interested, as I've recently had a wet dream about a certain burgundy SVX, and am about to sell a body part to get up some money.

Apparently, in this case "ran when parked" means it ran....but just barely?
