Selling my 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT. Would like to get at least $2000 for it from a GRMer. Can deliver to metro Atlanta. The car was originally an SL, but has the twin turbo engine and interior from the VR4. The AWD system was not swapped so it's still FWD. I purchased this car as a project and was mostly interested in swapping the engine in to something small and light as a mid-rear setup. The engine runs but there is a problem with one of the engine sensors and the engine will shut off after running for about 5 seconds. If you unplug the MAF it will default to a limp-home mode and the engine will run indefinitely, but has low power and a very low rev limiter. If I had to guess there's probably a sensor on there that's still from the N/A engine and wasn't swapped over.

The engine and turbos were rebuilt by the PO before the engine was swapped in and I've checked the cylinder compression and valve and ignition timing and it all looks good. I was planning to megasquirt the engine so haven't spent any time tracking down the sensor issue. There is a small coolant leak from a hose under the throttle body, which I also haven't attempted to fix, and the oil cooler was blocked off by the PO (I would reinstall it personally).

The previous owner was a bit of a ricer and the car is partially in black primer, had the spoiler removed, and has some tasteless decals on the bumper and windshield. Also, the cat-back isn't installed.

The interior is pretty sweet and it has a RalliArt seat and harnesses for the driver. Body is in pretty good shape with only a few small dents in the driver's rear quarter, but it needs paint badly. The valve covers have been powder coated and look great. It has ground control coil-overs and Eibach springs on all corners (don't know the rates, you can look at the pictures). Also, I replaced the window motor with working units (pretty expensive and a PITA).

Clean GA title signed over by previous owner (I've never registered the car).

Work it needs: - Sensor issue fixed - Oil cooler installed - Paint - Battery - Misc interior parts (glovebox, maybe some trim here and there) - Coolant leak fixed - Interior cleaned (just a little dirty from being worked on) - One wheel stud replaced -Front bumper bolted on

Extra Parts: - Spare MAF sensor - VR4 exhaust (down-pipe back) - Driver's seat rails (seat is currently non-sliding)

That's pretty much all I know the car is basically as I purchased it except for a few small fixes (like the windows).

I admit, I like it without the wing. And I have often wondered how a VR2, as it were, would feel to drive.

Eh, plenty of people do it. I don't think it's a big deal. If someone was interested and wanted it right away, Johny could cancel the auction.

Does that mean the VR4 TT engine will slot into a Caravan?

Theoretically, yes in fact it does. I haven't had a chance to measure, but the biggest problem with the swap are going to be A- if the heads clear, and B- if the E/M turbos combo clears. I would figure worst case scenario, tie the two turbo manis together and run a big single. But really, it should be nearly a bolt in affair.
