Where are you classic Mini guys hiding? :-)

Minis? I can't find one I can afford that isn't a total POS or RHD.

I don't understand with how many minis were made how there aren't more in the US in reasonable shape for a reasonable price.

Because they weren't imported to the US after the first generation. Any newer ones in the US have come in one at a time. And that's why so many are RHD, because very many Minis were RHD.

The engine is tempting, but it's probably not as good as my Rob Walker-built 1293. And I already have an HIF44 Although I do need some trans work

I know that, but they're old enough to be imported. I would imagine there would be more.

Dood, RHD is the way to go! I'd never buy another one that wasn't. It ups the (already high) fun factor by 10-fold. Do you have a grill and the end peices????

They get imported one at a time. If 1500 people a year decide to import one - which is a bit on the high side - then there are more new Ferraris coming into the US than classic Minis.

I wouldn't expect someone to import them in a bakers dozen, but I would think in the 41 years and 5.3 million that were made, there would be more here in the US, especially since many are over the 25 y.o. age restriction.

Either way I think they're cool and hopefully one day I can get one.

Indeed. RHD is the ONLY way to go. :-)

I do not have any of those pieces for sale.

Its not that easy to import cars, especially now. Beyond the requirements/expense on this side of the pond one must first be able to secure a good example on the other side....not easy, given very common rust issues and sleazy sales types.

As for over the years, I dont think that average Americans ever thought much favorable about the Mini....except for those few of us who like quirky old English cars and classics. In terms of regular reliable transportation in the USA they just were never competitive on any level.
