Two more sets of tires to get out of the garage!

Set 1: Kumho V710 DOT Competition tires, set of 4 Size 225/50R14 (optimal for 1.8 Miatas with 14X6 wheels, and similar) Wear is right at the wear markers (2/32nds). These tires came with a Miata I bought - I do not know their heat cycle history. One of them has a small cut in the tread, apparently from the tire trailer they were riding on, that goes to the cord. Should be fine for autocross use (but no guarantee, YMMV, etc.) Price: $150 o.b.o., plus shipping, or you can pick up in Gainesville, FL Picture of sidewall Picture of tread Picture of cut

Set 2: Toyo R888 DOT Competition tires, set of 4 Size 205/50ZR15 Wear is minimal - tires were molded at 6/32nds and there's more than 5/32nds left. These tires have only SIX heat cycles on them (30 minute sessions, 3 at Roebling, 3 at Daytona). Only downside, one has a nick in the sidewall, about as long as my thumbnail. I drove a 30 minute race at Daytona on the 24 hour course with the nick and nothing bad happened at 120+ mph on the high banks or on the infield U-turns, so I assume it's fine (but no guarantee, YMMV, etc.). Tires have been religiously kept wrapped in black plastic bags in the garage, at 10psi. Price: $350 o.b.o., plus shipping, or you can pick up in Gainesville, FL Picture of tread Picture of nick

PM me your contact info if you're interested in either set.

    Thanks!

Help an idiot out here, are the Kumho's autocross tires? If so I might be interested if shipping is reasonable.

Yes, I used the 205 version of this tire on my 1.6 Miata for auto-x. Great tire...not the very top of the R-compound heap anymore, but for my money they had a great performance/longevity curve. These 225s are too big for the 5.5" wheel on the 1.6 Miatas though, the 225s like a 6" or wider wheel.

I'm on a 6.5 inch wheel, on a 4 cylinder E30, so not too worried about that... What would shipping be to 60048 OR 61761, if either one would be cheaper?

Gainesville?? Another GRM'er in town, huh? I had no idea. Mr Joshua, Spinout007, MitchellC and I are all local as well.

I'm wondering if he's the guy I saw at Home Depot a few weeks ago wearing a GRM shirt. I was with another customer, and couldn't break away. I searched the entire store when I finally got away and couldn't find him.

V710s were the top of the heap a couple years ago, and would be ideal for a challenge car if someone could use that size. within the challenge context, the price is $50 too high, but he did say OBO.

Ha, no it wasn't me at Home Depot, but I am definitely a GRM fan!

Say, at the risk of derailing my own classified ad thread, you Gainesville folks have any suggestions on someone who does auto body repair side work? The crash that put the nick in that R888 also bent metal on the front and rear of my Miata...3 cars sideways in front of me at Daytona...not good!

Well Mr Smarty pants, Wikipedia says NA was from 1989-1997 so I think early 90's was a useful description.

I don't know anyone who does it on the side, but GT Motorcars is a good resource if you want to take it to a local body shop.

OK, sale pending on the R888s (special delivery in my car to the Rolex 24)!

On the V710s, I've already emailed mtn, but for others info, the shipping from Florida to the Chicago area was quoted at $84 by UPS Ground, $67 by Fedex Ground, and $54 by USPS Parcel Post. The tires way in at about 19.6 lbs. each. I went dumpster-diving for some boxes, but will probably end up just lashing two tires together with strapping tape. Tire Rack is a little fancier when they lash them together with those plastic straps, but I don't have any of those! Mtn, let me know..

dyintorace: thanks for the tip, will see what GT Motorcars has to say!

Ok, I'll pass it on to dad... Might be a little steep for us. We're not out of it yet, but if someone would do a local pickup, don't hesitate to sell it to them...

    FTW

this is going to be a great Fla trip... not that any of my Rolex trips have been bad, but this time I've found some one who needs my extra ticket + I'm bringing home some track day tires + plus the race WOOT

Thanks all, both sets of tires sold! Got pitbull113 the V710s Thursday - hopefully he can use at least 3 of them. Enjoyed watching the Rolex24 at Daytona, found wbjones at the GRM tent and got him the R888s, and bought some of MrJoshua's miata parts with the proceeds. A winner of a thread all around!!

I go to Home Depot sometimes, don't remember if I had my GRM shirt on in there recently or not, I'm good friends with Eric Anderson.

got my R888's home today, if the next snow/freezing rain event (starting tonight) and the one following that will let me hook up the trailer, I'll get them mounted and ready for the first track day (Feb 26 - 28) at CMP
