How about the Mazda 323 GTX?
You said 4 doors or wagon- that is a 2 door hatch. If the issue is kids/ back seat- this is probably not the car.

Really good suggestions. Many of them I have never looked into before. I'm not against a 2 door at all. I just find that there are times that the more 'practical' cars come in handy. We have a Villager van as well so I have access to a vehicle with more space if needed.
Previous to asking the question here, I had been eyeballing Volvos and police cars.
Many of the recommended car choices are interesting me (and a wide variety). I'm doing research on all of them and learning good stuff. Thanks!
