for your own personal sanity, and that of those around you, I recommend never, ever purchasing a 928 in poor condition. The parts are ASTOUNDINGLY expensive, when they are available.

When buying a 928 ALWAYS purchase the best one you can afford. Trust me, there is nobody that can afford that 928...

That isn't as bad as you make it appear. All the interior is there and not totally trashed, the body work is bodywork, no matter what car, and the major's were already taken care of. T belt a/c conversion, the lifter tap is nothing to worry about. If I had the extra cash I might consider it....had one already though so it's not a high priority to own...

I lived in an apartment for five years and everyday, I walked past a 928 that looked exactly like that. I was never even tempted.

thats actually not a bad deal. Ive seen much worse for more. the dent and the rust is what would turn me away. but 1300 for a running, drivable 928 with an interior that is mostly intact is a worthy candidate in my book. But yes, it will cost 3 times that to get it "better."

If I was feeling a bit more insane(and rich), I'd buy it, and bring it to the challenge this year.

So what is so expensive on a 928? The engine parts or every part.

If you have your heart set on a 928 but want something you can actually drive get an early lexus SC400. Similar speed, similar driving experience, and they never break.

Parts in general - IIRC they're at the same level as 911 parts and the standing joke with those is that once you take the part out of the box, you check the box for the free diamonds.
