    Seeing this makes me cry. I passed up one in Maine with a Ford V-6 installed two years ago for $$400.

    That looks to be pre-'65. The fins got much smaller when the Series IV came out in 1964.

    The 2.6 liter ford makes a pretty nice swap.

    From what I understand, the original 4 cylinder and transmission are incredibly heavy. Pretty much any workable swap will be faster.

    I thought the 1.7l engine came in the V series.

    Pretty sure that's the small fin version -- a IV or V. The early cars are seriously pointy.

    I've test driven a couple and like the way they drive. They really need an OD though and its pretty rare.

    Alpines are a little like Spitfires in that people will often offer to give you one when they see youa re inot them.
