  • March 7, 2011 1:46 a.m. Nashco SuperDork

Hey gang, I'm on the hunt for a complete set of Civic VX wheels. According to what I've seen on the net, these are 13x5, 4x100, +45 offset, and about 9 pounds a piece, which is exactly what I am looking for. Of course, I need them cheap, these are for a $2011 challenger so every penny counts. Ideally, they'd be somewhere on the west coast (I'm in Portland, OR), but if the price is right and you're willing to ship, that works too.

If you have some VX wheels, or some other set of similar wheels, let me know. Oh yeah, and while I'm at it, sticky tires for the same wheels are next on my list, so if you know of some cheap ones, please pass it on.

    Thanks!

Good luck, VXs were like hens teeth even when new

I'll take any luck I can get, but I think by asking around enough places I should be able to find some. What kills me is that I've seen them for sale for cheap before but never had a reason...of course, now that I need them, I can't find them for cheap. Murphy's law!

I wish I had room for meats like that! Details of the build will come out soon, but trust me that narrow with a significant offset is important...it's all the wheel I have room for!

Miata daisies are only 5.5" wide and have a fairly high offset. They are also 14" so you can get some sticky tires to fit on them. (e stock miata takeoffs). They aren't quite as light as vx wheels, but they are much easier to find cheap. I think it will be difficult to find used 13" sticky tires that are less than 215mm wide (215/50/13 710's). There are a few narrower 13" r comps, but they aren't commonly used.

Yup, those narrower 13" r-comps are the kinds of things I've got to consider. I need the smallest diameter tire/wheel combo I can get; 5" is the max width I have room for, and 10" diameter is too small to fit over the brakes I'm using, so it looks like 13" is my best bet. Every millimeter counts on this.

Check Craigslist for early MINI Cooper wheels. Any version with exposed lugs will be light. The lightest is around 12.1 lbs.

MINI wheels fit all your specs, except they're 15", but these days, 15" gives a lot more tire choices. I've bought sets of four as low as $50. Google "MINI Cooper wheel weights" to see pictures of each wheel with their weight.

I have a set of VX wheels. Previous owner painted them flat black. They're in perfect shape except one has an inch of very easily fixed rash. Sadly I'm in Chicago so I'd have to ship. Let me know if you're interested.

Yeah, definitely interested. Since they're so small and light, shipping isn't too bad. I sent you an email. Thanks!

my last set I got $350... hard to find

  • March 18, 2011 3:09 a.m. Nashco SuperDork

They're hard to find, but not THAT hard to find! I've had a few pretty decent offers (nowhere near $350...ha!), but most people don't want to bother with shipping or want me to pay them a bunch of money to dismount the garbage tires that are on them before shipping.

I should mention that I have some Rota Circuit 8 15x6.5 4x100 wheels that can be traded, if interested. I should get pictures of the Rotas this weekend. I know one has some curb rash.

Call off the hounds! I picked some up for $125 today:

So either I'm just lucky, or they're not so rare after all. Either way, I'm a happy camper. Now, to see if I can fit these things!
