Finally decided what I want, a Saturn SC2. Preference to 96-02, but will consider all. 5-speed of course, but could convert a nice example. I'm in the Detroit area, but will travel for the right car. Something in the 3-5k range, you know nice but not perfect. Under 120,000miles. Please no tan or gold cars! May look at a sedan or wagon if its a nice 5-speed.

Laugh at you? Heh. I drive old Saabs and a ragged out MR2.
I looked at a SW2 wagon a couple of years ago that needed an engine. They seem like really fun and useful cars.
Did you get a wagon or sedan?

Actually found a 97 SC2 (coupe) 5-speed.
I spent all summer looking around here in Michigan, couldn't find anything that fit the bill. Everything was either completely trashed with 189,000 miles or perfect and twice what I wanted to spend. Stumbled over it on Craigs list out of state. Local family member checked it out and I bought it per their recommendation. I'll have it in a week!
