Looks like a 5 series that "needs a minor repair."  The somewhat vague ad is complete with craigslist-tastic blurry pics.

Maybe that was my secret brain telling me I actually want it for myself cheeky

You definitely want it.  It's an E28 stick.

Are they good? I’ve never driven a BMW older than an E36. I’m tempted to call on it too, mostly because I’m curious what the “minor repair” might be and I think they look cool.

I like how the awesome picture of the trunk barely cuts off the badge so you don't know what motor this thing is supposed to have in it.

That said, these are kind of cool, at least from a distance.  Obvious answer is to just buy it sight unseen and start a build/rebuild thread.

My money would be on the eta motor, especially since the seller mentions fuel economy.  In any case, if it still has a floor, it's more than worth $1300.

Please tell me one of you guys bought this...

I didn't get a chance to go look at it this week.

E28s drive waaay nice.  They're solid German sedans in the Mercedes vein.

I never experienced one that didn't have a howling rearend, but that never dissuaded me from wanting one.

I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on the 88 manual Super Eta E28 that was on CL here a few weeks ago.
