I owned one of those for about 5 years.  The not accelerating over 1500 rpms could be the timing chain tensioner.  Those cars have three engine management computers - one for each bank and another to operate them together.  If the timing chain tensioner fails, the left and right bank of cylinders get out of sync with one another and the third computer gives up and puts the car in limp mode.  I'm not talking about jumping time, just having enough slop in the chain that they aren't operating exactly as the computer expects them to.

I bought some parts off of RacingJunk from someone who lived on Fangboner Road.

 

He spelled it out on the phone instead of saying it.

Awesome. I can only imagine all the eye rolls I'd get if I lived on that road...I don't think I'd be able to say it with a straight face every time I was asked to confirm my address or whatnot.
