A jet boat hull is the cheap way but really 3 grand isn't out of the question unless it has a vw in it some had the caddy or tornado engine trans combo and were quick, but tail heavy

I did email the seller. claims its a 67 Kelmark II (wiki says the Kelmark II was from 74?) and has VW running gear.

When I asked what value he had on it, all he said was trades.

so.....half of a moldy cheese sandwich?

Being a non-runner, needing floors and looking at the two pics included, I'd value it about 2k, tops. I paid $4,500 for mine it was a runner and street ready. In the 4 years I have had it I put about 8000 miles on it. It's currently undergoing an ej22 swap. Hope to be ready when the snow melts in a couple weeks.

This one looks to be an earlier model/build based on the door handles but not an extremely early model. The 67 is most likely the year of the bug chassis that it's built on. I believe mine was built around 86 but it's registered as a 73 due to the bug chassis.

So true! I usually pass right over those when I see it. They in fact are clueless about value. Makes you question most of their life choices at that moment too.

The owner seems like kind of a tool, but looking at this car, well maybe not this car but the Kelmark, I see potential for some cool stuff. As far as kit cars go, it's got some cool lines.

So I was Close, and not Downing the Bug engine 'Cause back then your engine options were VERY Limited. today with all the Amazing FWD combo's that can be Literaly Dropped in the back that could be Bad As heck. and the newer bug frame as in mid 70's not 60's

One of these bodies on an 818 chassis would do it for me and has been a thought in my head since purchasing mine, well, maybe before the purchase too.

Yeah, I always laugh when I see "I know what it is and know what it's worth". Yeah, maybe you know what a fully restored show room condition one may be worth but your hasn't run in a decade missing pieces is worth scrap. Even less to me. Or the guy trying to sell a 4-door base edition for what a 2-door coupe factory hot rod is worth. Yeah, dream on. It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.

I do agree that a Kelmark with a sideways modern powertrain would be awesome though. Looks like it is already close to being setup for mid-engine, looks like it has the room. If it wasn't so far away, might offer $50 as that's what I paid for my 63 Midget.

Kit cars can be cool In 69-70 we built a Jamican on A AH 3000 frame with a cobra spec.289 It's still BA. last year I built a 65 cobra 427 with a unique kit it's super bad. that Kelmark looks rough but has Mucho Potential but is worth about 2000.00 bucks maybe a tad more.

I had a pretty nice one, under construction but solid fiberglass body and decent pan and roll bar. Picked it up for $100.

Traded it for a tire machine Which I Eventually sold for $100.

The guy that I traded it to, sold it for $100.

The next guy that got it had up on Craigslist for $100 and eventually offered it up for free. I didn't even want it back at at the "for free" offer

I really DO know what those little ridiculous projects are worth in that condition . . . $50 if the chassis is bad. $100 if everything looks decent. It'll cost a bit to finish that car; windshield is from a second generation Vette, rear window is from a first generation Mustang fast back, door hinges are from a full size 60's Ford. The restoration may well be in the thousands, and you end up with a fiberglass Unicorn that can't be titled, registered, or insured in most of the states in the US . . . although Florida seems to have a dune buggy/kit car lenient attitude for now.
