As much as I kinda want to do up a cheap RX8, you can find a complete, non-running example for under a grand if you keep an eye out.

That is true, this one for a grand is probably a much better deal if you want it to remain an RX8

The $300 one was more of a rolling chassis to me, strip it down to a basic shell, cage it and run it for autocross
