For purely aesthetic reasons I like the vector illustration better, but it's not exactly uncommon. Bonus points to the photo version for originality, because I'm a design nerd. I like 'em both. (real help, huh?)
If I have to choose, I say first (photo) version.

When it comes to payment stuff that's all paypal. Not sure why you would get such a message however. If it doesn't end up working today you can always just send me payment directly through paypal but lets see if it gets better first.
