The factory pocket is actually quite shallow. Most aftermarket pockets will swallow a cd. The factory pocket is less than 3 1/2 " deep.

My real name on the phones is Butler. You are forgiven. The Alpine mounts with Velcro, though in my Miata it is jammed in behind the stereo. I should get rid of the stereo, but I still occasionally use cd's, or listen to traffic reports on the radio.

The green color in the stock gauges comes from little condoms on the bulbs. You can peel them off and I expect it'll look a lot like this. Haven't tried though.
Did you use the three position Lucas switch for the lights?(dim, flicker, off)
