Thought I'd share my latest build with the GRM community. As some of you know I work as a mobile hot rod/restoration type guy. I do almost anything the customer doesn't have the time, energy, skills, tools, or desire to do. Cuts down on the build/restoration time by a lot. Most of the work is done at the customers home or shop and they help or don't on any given part of the job.

Here's how it works. Lets say you want to restore a car like this Mustang and I show up to check out your torn apart car and pile of cool parts you've accumulated. We discuss your goal and the level of perfection you want to achieve. Then we make a plan of action of what you would like to do yourself, have help with, or have me do by myself. Then I will go there and work with or without you at your choice as often as you want. This allows you to get the car done quicker than doing it by yourself and how much faster depends on what you want me to do, how often, and your budget.

This customer is an experienced bodyman and PPG paint rep. He's had the car about 10 years and just wants to get it done. He (and others) did a lot of work to it over the years but health issues have made it hard in recent years and he's decided now he just wants it to get finished. So this is where I come in.

The motor is a rebuilt 302 which will get a serpentine kit, Holley carb, MSD/Mallory ignition. Trans is a AOD. Rear is an 8.8 with 95 Mustang GT discs and 3.73's riding on a Heidts coil over suspension. Front is a Heidts coil over setup with power rack & S-10 brake setup. Currently the car has some old Cobra wheels as rollers on it but will get 20" wheels.

Interior will be a combination of old & new with Autometer Phantom gauges & bumpin stereo where a rear seat would normally be.

Since the owner is a body/paint guy he'll take care of that. Exterior will be a combination of Eleanor fiberglass parts without side exhaust, Shelby scoops, rear valance with exhaust cutouts, and a 67 style hood. Not sure what front pan/grill/bumper yet.

I've got a 68 Fairlane Fastback to rewire next week and a couple other little jobs so it'll be a week or so before I get started. My first task is sorting out the brake system to make sure it performs properly and running new lines to replace some that aren't up the owners standards. Anyway here's my starting point pics.

Nice. I wish that you were local to me. My project car needs some help to get back on track.

You'll need to log in to post.
