Big shout out to Dusterbd13 for kicking the tires on this one. He knows his s10 blazers!

Drove this home from South Carolina yesterday. As mentioned, Dusterbd13 met me there and the GMC syclone caught his eye.

We knew the LT1 swap looked good, but had no idea how well it was done. Mike didn't find too many faults, some things he would have done different. The transmission is odd, something is setup strangely and I'll be looking into that in the future. It ran pretty darn good. The interior is damn clean and so is the frame. Interior has some weird things like a wooden steering wheel and a wooden panel on the instrument cluster, past owner chromed out the rims. The side mirrors are also redone, maybe the front grill? It's got abunch of stuff done to it that i'll probably never notice. There's a button with a light that goes to the engine, no clue what that does. It rattles like my 2013 Fiat 500T I had. It needs tires.

Blew a cheap seal on the way home so it's leaking gear oil. Going to change that this week and change the tires. Seems like an easy job for a beginner and I'm up for a challenge, girlfriend wants to learn too so we will be doing this together.

Dude needs to call me back. I want that syclone. Like now.

Make sure that in front of the different is dry as well. Seeing the picture, looks like my over the phone may be wrong. Looks higher up or further forward than the differential cover gasket.

Looks really clean. Somebody loved that Blazer. A lot.

It's dry on the other side of the gasket cover. Just a thick layer of dirt/grease. I put my finger at the bottom of the gasket cover and got a real good amount of gear oil on my finger. So hopefully this $4 seal will do the job!

Sweet truck! In the motor photo looks like your missing a breather on the passenger valve cover. Looking forward to see you dechrome this thing and get your v8 jollies taken care of

Ah, darn. Not really sure where to go from here. Got to a chance to look under it this morning, was a bit of a gear oil drip on the ground where the diff is. Wanted to check further up since it was light outside and sure enough transmission pan pretty darn wet (but no drip on the concrete). Not sure what to do.. Driving it around yesterday, felt like I had to give it a lot of gass, prob 25% pedal down to get it moving. But it moved fast still. I should check if the bolts are even tight.

Thinking maybe replace gasket seal. Then hose everything down real good so I can then isolate the leak. Cause at this point driving 2 hours with a leak the oil sorta everywhere haha.

Change the pan gasket and filter. Be careful not to over tighten it if its a thin steel pan, you can dent them with the bolts then it will never seal, unless you goop it up with rtv.. Best of luck and id suggest not to drive it until you get that sorted. If you havent already check the trans fluid levels (you know trans warm engine idling in park when you check it). Wouldnt hurt to check the rear diff too, pull the fill plug and stick a finger in, if your finger gets wet your good. Im sorry if im telling you how to do things you already know how, better safe then sorry ya know, and posterity and that junk.

Oh yeah and if i havent already said it. Totally jealous of your new whip, lt1, blazer, ac? Doesnt get any better except with a t56 but i think youll be MORE than happy with the 4l60, ASSuming thats what it is

Thanks for the suggestions. It helps w/ the further explanation as I'm a beginner and in pretty over my hear, but that's the only way I learn.

Transmisson is a Turbo 400 unfortunately (i think, need to crawl undernearth and check pan shape). At one point it had a 700R4 as I spoke to the shop who did the engine swap and they said they would have never put a T400 in it. So not exactly sure what has happened here.

I'm learning though, which is fun.

I had a feeling, just wanted to be gentle about it, were all still learning about something another. Only bad part about a th400 is no overdrive and takes more power to spin one, otherwise they are stout as E36 M3! Maybe someone was trying to drag race it at some point or another or just burnt up the weak ass 4l60. The pan gasket isnt a big deal, you know just drain and replace. You said hose off the motor to see the leaks, i suggest "gunk" brand original foaming aerosol spray. Its magical just spray then hose off with water. Like you said really helps with pinpointing leaks. Pretty much with the trans and any auto really, as long as its got fluid and a way to cool it, it will be fine. When you drain the fluid take note of its color and smell, you dont really have to know what atf smells like to know when its burnt.

OK great. So on the list is diff gasket seal and trans pan seal.

Ideally I'll be able to get some more life out of the turbo 400 while I plan the eventual 700 swap and 4x4 back in

April 11, 2016 8:41 p.m.

Aww I was hoping you were going to drop it. Cool truck, im jealous

That's in the plan!

I need to see if Raleigh has a place you can rent out a lift and a space. Rather do that then be under my car with 2" of room to work yelling at the girlfriend.

Alrighty, well first off when checking out the transmission I had to get a dipstick and sleeve. Waited for that to arrive. Transmission fluid now filled up and it's moving again and feeling good. Still leaking out of the pan, so gasket and filter needs to be changed. Also one of the valve covers is leaking a lot and getting oil on the exhaust, so i'll need to change that gasket too.

Looking at the truck, I'm wondering if the chromed out factory rims bug me enough to replace. It needs new tires, so maybe I can find a set of these rims and used tires in a junkyard.. dunno. anyone else got ideas for wheels?
