I am parting out a 93 GT in the classifieds if you need any cheap replacement parts. Bought it for the BP to swap into my festiva. sounds like I could make the festiva a bit faster with a few junkyard parts.

only one I'm not sure of is someone said to cut the intake manifold... any details on that? the bp's in the GT's had the variable intake runners and from what I've seen it actually works pretty well to keep some torque.

I'm also a member of clubprotege form. I've been told by several people they have some of the best tech advise there, so, I'm going to find out.

I understand there is a runner and a wall. remove the runner but only knife edge the wall. I posted the question there and waiting for a reply.

As to the part out...luckily I have a "PULL-A-PART like 5 miles away. they have 2 GT's and 4 Protege's plug, I have a 93 engine as well as the 91 still in the car.

I'll keep you posted on what i find out about cutting the intake.

One thing I have learned is that mazdaspeed won't give you any discounts or support for using their products on their engines if they have a ford emblem on the valvecover. Seems kinda lame to me!!!!

I'll be going to that yard next weekend to rape those cars, so make sure you get what you need first.

Easy enough, put a Protege or Kia cover on it. PROBLEM SOLVED.

(Ok, but not really. They still won't do anything for me, and i even have TWO mazda valve covers.)

yeah if my pull a part had some GT's I'd be raping them too. I do have a friend who wants the timing cover and valve cover for his miata, so if they are cheap and you aren't looking to rape him in the mouth with a $100 removal fee, let me know and I'll get you guys in touch. He keeps bugging me about wanting mine and I'm like "dude, I'm USING it!"

I'm from Louisville and have brought a couple of Protegés back from the dead. We still have one of them. What kind of knowledge are you looking for?

I've got a 91 EGT that I'm going to run at the Sportsdrone this season. I know nothing other than what I've found from forums/research on the 1.8 and, setting up an Escort for racing. Guess you could say I'm a blank notebook ready to be filled out.

Well, Just bought a set of 2001 Miata 10:1 Pistons (35K miles). Got the extra engine so I can do the exhintake swap, cut the intake manifold (when I find the thread on ClubProtege)). Found an RX7 VAF. Plan to match port the head.

That makes sense. It is like $65 for a feature win. But, they do have "claiming".

I'm thinking some "stock" ZX2 S/R stuff would be just the ticket. "Stock" 97+ 1" solid front sway bar for sure.

Sway bar only on ZX2?? What abot the rear??

I can set one up for you, actually.), and an RX7 "B" Code VAF. Should give you a GOOD jump over what you've got going on now, especially if your current motor is worn out. Wouldn't hurt to send the head off to get it freshened as well. I've found lots of power on Mazda motors in particular by simply making sure the old heads simply have properly sealing valves again.

Got a set of rods and pistons from from an 01 Miata!!

The rear is already plenty big on an EGT.

It's certainly not bad. I've seen them go for lower, but i don't know how "Normal" that is.

I priced new ones thru Mazda and was told they were like $126 EACH for just the piston
