The Saab 96 project came with no keys.  I plucked four wires out of the back and wired two to a toggle switch to lite the coil and two to a starter button.  It works, BUT, the wires get pretty warm.  Granted I was using a jumper wire that was a bit smaller than the factory wiring; if I used larger wire diameter do you see this at a problem?

Thanks, Dan

Smaller wires are problems, larger wires are solutions....usually.

Thanks.  I put the momentary button behind the cigarette light, I'm good as long as no one wants to smoke in the car while driving.

Smaller wire has more resistance, which creates more heat.
