This is my latest toy. It's a beast, drove it onto the trailer, so much awesome.

304, 4 speed, Dana 44/60s, clean body, nice flatbed. 35" Tires, that is not lifted.

It's a redneck Aussie kinda thing

Needs the fuel tank cleaned and treated, guy had a Pony Keg tank but he wanted it, I let him have it in exchange for a stock tank. I prefer to have the bed clear.

Has a 5th wheel ball, doesn't yet have a hitch.... but it will

Really bad photo of it on the trailer behind the Expedition, it towed fine.

Drove it on to the trailer? Shoulda drove that thing onto some more stuff. Like a tank, or some Civics. It's badass!

Without a fuel tank that was going to be difficult.

Snapped a couple more, just because it's badass

Very Cool.
I can't imagine that went real far on a pony keg of fuel.
Into the 5th dimension with a 5th wheel !!!

We got a fuel cell hooked up,

Also removed and rebuilt the shifter and made a new shifter pin out of a drill bit, sorting out the very slack free play and making it much improved.

Some tuning, checking and basic maintenance completed.

Old time nick name for a International Harvester (they invented the first corn binder, and it stuck)

Travelalls, Scout 800's and Scout II's are all great, heavy, strong, old-fashioned American iron.

The 304's, 345's and 392's are HEAVY but sooooo solid. You really can't beat the simplicity and availability of the Dana running gear. (NP 205 transfercase?)

(btw, I'm sure this is common knowledge but that 304 is NOT the AMC 304)

Drove the old girl around about 50 miles today, rough old ride but actually not unbearable at 60 mph.

I was having bad thought about a 429 and 5 speed Getrag though. I happen to have both.

Fixed a brake light problem. Need brakes that actually retard forward motion though.

Having owned a few IH trucks, keep it IH powered.

A clean body on a '69 is pretty much a christmas miracle, those things rot faster than italian cars.

Agreed. Those trucks are rare here in the States. Can't imagine finding one on another continent.

I bought a unimog off eBay in 2004 and the guy told me he had a spot for me to load it on my trailer. I got there; he didn't have a spot. So; I drive it onto the trailer without any ramps. I love tough trucks....

Some online investigations located a guy whose family used to own the largest IH junkyard in Ohio, right here in Lima.

Visited him today, came away with a great resource, a indicator stalk, two arm rests, horn button ring and an air cleaner.

He told me about the good, the bad and the ugly, showed me his collection, around 20 IH tucks on site, that I saw, must be more around, piles of new and used parts.

It was a great find.

I lived in Lima for almost 3 years, how did I not about this place? I could have probably saved my grandpas '68 IH.
