No, I found a closeout deal on rockauto for BMW M5 clutch kit, which appears to completely be backwards compatible with my setup as far as cross references go.
Oh hey guys, I have fantastic news. That belt that I paid to have overnighted? The 90 tooth belt? The one I ordered out of new york like... the weekend before dyno day? Great news, it just shipped today and it'll be here tomorrow!
LOL.
Awesome story so far. Trust me when I say lots of internet strangers are in awe, and looking forward to a hard earned Jalpa burnout video.
And dyno numbers!... because I'd love to explain to my family why random Lambo engine parts arrive on my doorstep.

Yeah, sadly the dyno numbers will have to wait till I get it on a chassis dyno. Too many complications on short notice for dyno day meant no run :(
On a different note: I got my 924 ITB car back on its feet today. I upgraded to Megasquirt 2 for it. The acceleration add fuel was wacky as hell, and the regulator pressure was off a bit. I adjusted it and moved it down a hair, throttle response is muuuuuuch better.
I also went ahead and played with the idle a bit, the idle is butter smooth for it at an ideal AFR. Can't drive it till I fix the brake light wiring and get it registered again. Will do that monday.
Corsepervita: if you are still planning on cleaning out your factory fuel tanks, you need to give oxy-clean a try. Dollar store stuff works great, just get the powdered kind. Fill the tank with hot water, add one scoop per gallon of hot water, let it stew for a day. Rinse, shake, repeat. You can watch it start working in five minutes, it literally starts bubbling and brewing. I resurrected a motorcycle tank that had gas in it for 28 years using this trick...
In reply to Recon1342:
I use Oxy Clean to clean out my and my friends, uh, glassware without having to scrub. Anything organic, that stuff just eats right through it! From what I understand, it basically creates hydrogen peroxide from the water reaction.

Glassware, huh?
I agree, that stuff is awesome. It peeled the varnish right out of the tank. No chains, nuts, bolts, or vigorous shaking required. Just agitate it a bit, change it daily until clean...
So I've struck out on nearly every avenue for bearings except rockauto. According to the cross reference guide... the throwout bearing for a very early corvair apparently uses a similar style. It's $15 so... I took a chance and ordered one.
Then... this morning I got an email back from a european company who redesigns bearings to original spec and they even emailed me the specs of the original throwout.
Bearing number : N3036 Size (mm) : 180x280x74 Brand : CX Bore Diameter (mm) : 180 Outer Diameter (mm) : 280 Width (mm) : 74 Bearing dimensions and specification in brand catalogue : d - 180 mm D - 280 mm Ew - 255 mm B - 74 mm C - 74 mm Weight - 17,3 Kg
You know, at first i just copied and pasted that, but after re-reading those dimensions... yeahhhhh. That's... not at all close. LOL. (the clutch itself is 240mm)
That N3036 is a mixup, the PN appears to refer to both an automotive clutch throwout bearing and a $3000 cylindrical roller bearing the size of a dinner plate.
Is this what what you're after? http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHICAGO-RAWHIDE-SKF-N3036-Clutch-Release-Bearing-1975-78-FIAT-131-1-8L-/301816103476?fits=Make%3AFiat&hash=item4645a44234:g:c7oAAOSw8KNW~D24&vxp=mtr
jesus christ. yeahhhhh. definitely DO NOT need cylindrical roller bearing the size of a dinner plate.

That looks shockingly similar to stock.
