Ah comptech. Used to love their nsx stuff. Will check out the heel toe link you sent, thanks

I didn't have another friend, had to do on my own. I remember my 91 wagovan, crx, integra , tears didn't need spring compressor. On these ITR springs, absolutely did

Nice! I'm getting 26 mpg with my B16/ITR combo no matter how I drive.

I do dig the sleeper look of your GSR.

Thank you. I was expecting a lot lower, since I have been winding it out, and 4200 RPM on the highway, but can't complain about it. Most efficient vehicle in the fleet. LOL

Sleeper = boring, AARP, old person. I am ok with that coolheart

That's about half the gas of the FJ? Hard to argue with that.

FJC has been getting 17 MPG in last 13,000 miles.

Wife thinks it gets 22-24mpg since it replaced Mazda5, and had to fudge the mileage a bit ;)

That's about what ours gets, and on premium to boot since they wanted them to run that on the early ones. Makes driving the Accord daily an easy choice.

I was DD the FJC for a bit. I parked it since GSR. I run 87. In America we over maintain things. I used to as well. I stopped it last year. Our cars in Saudi and SE Asia, literallly runs on garbage and still makes it 300k miles

so 87 for me, unless race car then I get the 100+ octane :)

also it's 4.19$ here for 87

Yup 90% of my family live in TX, with a significant part of them in Sugarland, Galleria/Woodlands, as I had mentioned.  Their house prices are 5% of ours, and gas is 50% of ours. You guys living the good lifeyes

Haha yup, I have those. I am on my 2nd S2000, both bought new. First got totalled after I put 168K miles on it. I have all the tapes of best motoring, but I have no VCR. So essentially they are all paperweight.

WIFE UPDATE:

Well after 1,379 miles, wife decided to go on a ride with us yesterday with the kids. THe kids love the GSR, and everything has been parked (for the ride to school), since GSR came home.  First 20 miles or so, no comment from the wife.  On the next 15 miles home, asked what she thought.

SHE: "Hmm its ok, I guess."

ME: Just ok?

SHE: Well I think I don't find it very special. Feels ordinary. I think its because I don't give much credence just because it is a manual trans. Also my joy in a car isn't tied to the transmission as you, so I think it doesn't speak to me, and I don't enjoy it as you do.

ME: So should I just sell it?

SHE: Well, I never tell you sell anything, but over hte last 6 months, my allegiance to our cars have changed. The ones I told you not to sell before, I changed my mind. I just want to keep FJC and my car, everything else you can sell or do whatever you want.

KIDS IN BACK: NOOOOO WE ARE NOT SELLING ANYTHING.

So that was the end of that. GSR is blah for the wife, fun for the kids and me, so staying for now as we enjoy it.

Did you wind it out for the wife?  Transmission is certainly 90's Honda smooth, but the engine is the gem of that car imo.  If she wasn't impressed by v-tech there's no hope.

Redline with 4 people in car. Doesn't make a difference, its the slowest car I have. However, the "fun factor" and low belt glass line, old honda flavor, aren't something you can explain to someone who doensn't appreciate it. Not to mention its down 400HP on her DD, lol.

That said, her approval isn't required for purchase or for the car to stay in the fleet. It was just a data point for the thread.

Average people aren't impressed by VTEC,  and I don't need them to be. Its for my own satisfaction :)

Well cars parked at airport for 2 weeks

5500 rpm shift on onramps is a lot of fun with the family. My other VTECs I cant take whole family with me

also fun is doing 90mph, gas guage doesn't move , unlike my other vehicles where it seems throttle directly seems connected to guage guage

Well not much to report on the car, except after sitting at airport for two weeks cleaned it up

doing redline most of the tank and 85-95 mph driving this tank, dropped the 29.3 mpg to 22.7 mpg

Next tank, wont go over 4k rpm and 75mph, lets see what the experiment  brings

I've never really liked Honda/Acura.  Maybe too many clapped out body kit neon Civics and Accords growing up.  However, this car is absolutely beautiful and its now on my "cars I'd like to have someday list".

Glad you're enjoying it and nice to see someone save it

Thank you Rob for the kind words. My secretary drives a C43 (fake AMG) Cabriolet. Doesn't understand my need/desire/happiness from old Japanese "blah" cars as she calls them, when they rotate through my parking space. But cars like these are hard to explain unless someone drives it yessmiley

Not much to report.

Did an oil change, and went back to the USDM tail lights that came wtih the car from the factory.

I know long long time ago, JDM lights would be the best, but I am tired of them, and in my old Viagra state of life, OEM USDM looks better. I also think the full red on the Grandpa Gold works best.   Here are some before and after shots

That's because full red is the best. Or clear lenses instead of amber like on the Si.
