UPDATE:

I have it on fairly good authority that $1000 would buy this.

This belongs to my brother. He is the original owner. It is RUST FREE, but it has high miles (332k), and needs a new timing chain and tensioner. It has leather interior with the third row seat. He drives it from South Jersey to Connecticut at least once per week.

$1800, clean title.

I would buy this myself for a fix and flip if I had the time and space but, alas, I do not.

The good:

-It's a loaded, one owner Suburban with a clean title in hand.

-It is Rust Free, having lived its life in suburban (!) South Jersey.

-5.3 LS V8, automatic, 4WD

-Body is very straight

-Tires look pretty good

-New starter a few weeks ago

-No CEL's or codes

The bad:

-It needs a new timing chain and tensioner. You can hear it at high RPM.

-Interior is pretty dirty and the driver's seat is worn out. The headliner on the sunroof shade is drooping.

-Paint is peeling on the rear hatch (aluminum) around the rear wiper. The rest of the body is pretty nice.

-Rear bumper is pushed in on one side where he backed into something.

In spite of the miles and needs, I think that this thing is an absolute steal at $1800. I'll be around it again today if you need more photos. If you want to see it, we can probably arrange a time in either New Jersey (Cherry Hill area) or Connecticut. My brother is not a car guy, so contact me with any questions and I'll try to get answers for you.

If I wasn't trying to buy a house, I'd probably be all over it.

Has trans, transfer case, or rear axle ever been into as far as your brother knows?

In reply to Patrick :

No. Rear main seal was changed last year though.

I miss my 04 Suburban. It was a 2wd LT I think, and came from TX just before I bought it. The previous owner had the rear axle rebuilt just before I got it( literally picked it up from the repair shop) . I loved that truck, except for the HVAC system that had a mind of its own, The dual A/C system that was hard to repair, and the rear axle was starting to make noise again. The seats are the best I've ever sat in. The drivetrain in these are the best ever. Just wish the rest of the truck was built as well. I can tell the rear A/C is working just by the wet pavement under the passenger side quarter panel.

In reply to Mazdax605 :

I mentioned that puddle to my brother and he told me that it was the rear A/C. I didn't even know that they had such a thing!

Yeah there is a whole separate hvac system behind the plastic panel on the passenger side rear cargo area. It's pretty impressive.

He wouldn't trade for a 83 Mazda 626 LX touring sedan, would he?

That looks amazing for the mileage, way too nice to be an LS donor.

I don't think these have a timing tensioner. Just a chain and sprockets. The good news is they are crazy cheap. The kit with the oil pump is about $70.

If I hadn't just bought one exactly like it...

GLWS.

You may be right. As far as I can tell, they either have a tensioner or a guide. Whichever this engine has, it sounds as if it needs to be replaced.

Here's a quick How-To video...

Hemostats will help you change the impossible bolt on the bottom of the oil pump. Otherwise you’ll have to drop the front diff. Just sayin...

My brother texted me today asking if anyone was interested, so I'm thinking this may be Last Call...

It is currently in South Jersey.
