It pains me greatly to do this, but...things haven't worked out. I bought this car from Copart on an impulse, and it just doesn't fit into my life right now. I lack the means to bring it up here, much less fix the transmission. I'm heavily motivated to sell this thing, so here's the good and the bad:

Good:
Mazda BP motor!
Rare LX-E model! (Sedan version of the Escort GT)
Prime candidate for a manual swap (see below)
Uhh...cheap!!!

Bad:
Accident damage on the right front
Salvage title
Transmission seems to have turned into a box of useless nothing! (needs rebuilt or swapped out)

GRM member untchabl has been holding the car for me at his place, so I've never seen it in person. Below are pictures from the Copart auction and a few he sent me. It's in Siler City, NC.

I'd like for it to go to someone who will fix it and bring it to the GRM challenge, unless the chassis turns out to be totally ruined or something. In that case, I'd like for someone to swap the motor into something else and bring that to the GRM challenge. wink

Bonus points if you fix the front end by installing Mercury Tracer headlights/grille/bumper, which is slightly different from the Escort front end. cheeky

If you have to ask the answer is yes.

The car is sitting behind my shop. I'll be glad to provide more pictures or help any way I can if anybody is interested in the car.

I actually am a little curious about the rust situation and the extent of the damage.

Rusty green LX-E with a manual + crashed silver LX-E with a broken auto= ??

I’m just not sure if the math makes sense in my plan to create a LX-E wagon...

I mean, wagons are great and all...but if you buy this car, you'd have TWO BP engines. Then you just need one more transmission to have a wagon+sedan two-car team! laugh

Do it. The one I sold to you is awesome other than having no structural integrity. This seems almost too easy.

It's totally worth it for the BP and rear calipers, hubs and arms at this point. Someone is a festiva and this away from challenge glory.

If there was a way to slap the fenders, hood, bumper, rad support etc from an MX3 onto it, I'd be making said horrible monster.

Also, as for the body damage, an LX parts car would be cheap to source the fender (inner and outer) rad support, lights. You'd one to source the hub and axle from a GT or protege LX. But if I were doing it, I'd get axles, pedal box and a manual transmission from a Kia sephia, then look for a limited slip for a BJ chassis Mazdaspeed protege to swap in.

For about $1k you'd be able to have a manual transmission BP powered escort with a limited slip.

I want to, it’s just too far to do a down and back in one day and I don’t have time to spend a weekend hauling a car right now.

That being said, if it still needs a home in a few months...

Add this...

Questionable bodied BP escort in Delaware with a borked 3rd gear.

Sell or trade the extra BP for a working G series, convert to manual and be set to add boost for the challenge. The Delaware car is rough, but if the radiator support is useable, then you'd have a donor to make the front end functional again.

Bringing this back to the top for slowbird. Someone needs to buy this car. Need to do some spring cleaning around the shop and that includes making this car go away.

I know someone could bring this thing back to life. I'm not sure if that someone is me. Save me before I use my coronabucks to ship it up here.
