That's stanD's old 900, IIRC. It has been for sale by a couple of different people since he sold it, all saying it has a blown head gasket. Poor thing.

Way to far. Sometime should bring it to the Challenge again so I can buy it off them.

Ugh, is it bad that I just googled Martinsville, IN?

I think I'm turning into the crazy cat lady of neglected Saabs now...

One of us needs to grab it before it ends up at the scrappers sad

Oooh, you have Saabs and maybe parts? I have Saab questions and I may need parts.

I have been playing with 900 front knuckles. I have a set from 87-89? non ABS, but with the unmachined boss. I also have an 84-86? big brake driver's side. Are the 900 and 99 knuckles basically the same except for ABS boss and different disk guard for the wider brake version?

I would like to get a passenger side big brake knuckle and maybe a second set of pre ABS knuckles though I don't yet know whether I need big brake or if regular will work. I think big brake but I might be able to do without.

I prefer the early units since they don't even have the boss for ABS and I don't think I need the boss for anything. I like the option of setting the rotor further inboard for more wheel clearance/options. I am not currently concerned with the hubs. I still have measurements to make this weekend, but thus thread is here so I am jumping the gun and asking early.

Can you point me in the direction of what I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Matthew

I find it hard to believe that this thing is making the rounds because of a simple head gasket. That's like a one day job and the parts are readily available. If it was closer I'd be tempted just for the lack of rust.

The seller just sent me some interior pics and the interior looks good.  my problem is 559 miles and 8 hours each way.

Wasn't this one a non-turbo car with a turbo added? I think the headgasket thing has been a thing for a long time. It might be that buyers buy it but just never get to doing the work, and therefore repeat the condition in the next ad.

The body does look to be in nice condition.

You know Saab's north-south engine layout means you could potentially swap in the drivetrain from an old ElDorado or Toronado...

Or the coolest classic 900 I ever saw had the original engine relocated to behind the seats. There's plenty of room in that hatch. I look back at my 87 900 Turbo as the one I miss the most. I really should drive one to see if they're as good as I remember.

Pretty sure Stan sold the car and told the buyer not to turn up boost.  Buyer did not listen and car showed up for sale on FB marketplace soon after for half purchase price and with blown headgasket. Pretty sure he was asking $500. Looks like 2nd purchaser is now attempting to resell and make a $100 profit. Silly seller.

Whoever is interested should show up with tow dolly and 4 Franklins.
