Interceptor. Nice car. Was in great shape, rolling slow up the 110 N in Los Angeles.

It got me thinking. Which forum here would I be posting about the Jensen in? It's a Euro car, with a Mopar motor.

It got me thinking about hybrids. Not the kind we see now (which by the way have not convinced me that they are better for the environment than a regular gasoline engined car) but the kind we used to see. Jensen Interceptors and Formula Fergusons, Sunbeam Tigers, Cobras, Detamaso Panteras, and even the Mercury Capri.

These are the hybrids that I like. I apologize if I have left any out. Personally, I prefer the hybrids of yesteryear and take offense that a perfectly good sports car term has been co-opted by the green movement.

There are a lot of after-market hybrids out there too. I've seen Datsun Zs and Jaguars with V8 iron stuffed inside. I have friends running 914s with subaru turbos. Let's not forget the roto-spit!

I think we need to take our term back. Make them think of something else for their quasi-electric cars and save the term hybrid as it was originally intended.

Well you're the Kaptain. Start the revolution now.

I also remember admiring the Monteverdi cars when I was a kid, with big Mopar motors and trannies; especially the mid engine Hai 450 SS. They must be extremely rare, I never see those.

There are lots more... at the last meeting of our tiny local sports car club, we had a TVR Tuscan (SBF power) and an Iso Rivolta (SBC power).

Exactly the point. We had hybrids long before those birkinstock wearing, granola eating tree-huggers did! We need to recapture our destiny here folks.

Let's think of a new name for the current gasoline, electric combos running around out there that call themselves "hybrids".

thanks, Kapt'n ...beautiful car. I'll have to head over to Pebble Beach next time and pick one up ;)

hybrid smybrid ...I've long advocated that we should burn up all available gasoline and oil as fast as we possibly can so we can just move on with whatever comes next. Let's stop pussyfooting around. This would force the issue and in the meantime we/I'd have a good time. Some of my friends consider me worse than Hitler since I very often run on leaded racegas even on the street and my car seems to have lost it catalytic converters.

Instead of "hybrid" I vote for "deformed defective genetically inferior mutants"

how do we add a picture like above? Is this privilege reserved for our illustrious leaders?

You can either use the html img tag, or the handy little camera inserter thingy I just added (above the reply box)
