From a British car online forum

"Take along a screwdriver and check along the inside rockers and back corners. You shouldn't be able to push it through"

I don't think the seller will appreciate you jambing a screw driver through his car.

You occasionally see that in British buyers guides as well, but if I see anybody "inspecting" a vehicle I'm selling I'd go a little medieval on them.

OTOH if you can pop through into the rockers with pure thumb pressure then I guess it's a case of "fair enough".
