Is their a way to give a few of us who are online all the time the ability to make canoe posts go away without giving us full mod status? It is slightly interesting seeing all these old posts resurrected but having it done by way of canoe is irritating.

I am online, canoes are present, where are the mods?

I used to have this power on a previous iteration of the board. Never got it with this one. But yeah - the canoe E36 M3 is getting deep.

I really don't care if it is me. In fact, I would probably rather it not be me, but it does seem like a late nite/weekend mod presence would stop the canoes before they can post on every thread.

It's unlikely that we're going to deputize independent users to kill spambots. Creating that authorization allows for too much other tomfoolery.

The canoes come and go, they're up for a few hours or maybe a couple days if it happens on a weekend when I'm out of town or travelling. I wish I could implement the registration changes immediately, but I can't because we're a little handcuffed to a coiture board architecture. Believe me, I want to get rid of them worse than you do.

And if you think we have it bad, check out CNN.com. Their comments are full of "work from home" offers.

I think Tommy is deputized. If not, we could make it so easily.

FWIW, The slowest part of killing canoes is finding and deleting the "OMG WTFBBQ ITS A CANOE SAVE THE CHILDREN" comments afterwards. Whoever had that idea needs a purple nurple.

I'm deputized, but until very recently I didn't know what the proper protocol for Canoes was.

I'll keep the streets safe from floating watercraft!

Somthing I saw over at the MSEXTRA board

    Mods at MSEXTRA board said:

Additionally, all new users will start on "moderated" status and their first two posts will require approval. This is to stop spammers and appears to be working ok.

Can you do this? It seems to have worked really well over there.

I'll be sure to keep everyone forewarned via relevant hotlinks.

For instance, here is a picture of a certified law enforcement agent taking care of a canoe related issue and for that, we thank him.
