Dear GRM.. What happened to open wheel cars? Other than the odd short article about an event. I can't remember the last feature article about an open wheel car. I can't remember the last time I read about a rescued, barnyard Vee, or someone on a limited budget racing a Formula Ford. Is the F.R.C.C.A. still around? How do I convert a Crossley FF to a F-2000? Or vice versa?

I still love the magazine, but wish for some open wheel content.

The Legrand is an open wheeler with closed wheels.

    In reply to DILYSI Dave:

The LeGrand is more of a Sports Racer.

My "local" road racing sanctioning body allows SR's to race in closed wheel race groups.

I realize that. But other than the fact that it's wheels are covered by some incidental fiberglass, it seems like the buildup would be pretty parallel to a similar open wheel car.

We have something on Formula 600 scheduled for the next issue, but the request for more open-wheel stuff is noted.

Thank you, that is awesome. I love the magazine I wasn't going to cancel my subscription over this issue. It did however prompt me to get an internet connection and check out the website.

On a side note, my internet provider owes GRM some money. I got internet service at my house just so I could make this comment. Seriously!

Thanks for joining the online community, and we know that we can use a bit more formula car stuff. We hear you.

I too would like additional Formula car coverage.

Especially a series of articles on

    Doing it on a budget

What they are like to live with maintenance wise

    Where to get parts

An article series on converting an F500 to F600 and racing it/living with it would be a home run.

So is your Civic. So is every car when you think about it. I mean, if your car didn't have closed wheels it would have open wheels, no??

Well, yeah, but from a construction / development / tuning point of view, a sports racer and a formula car are siblings. A production car is a distant cousin.

How bout an article on making a formula car street legal? Always wanted to drive one to work.
