Like a robot, I'm clicking away without looking. I mean, its GRM, I know the sections. Hmmm there's a lot of CM content lately. Click back and I see Classic Motorsports. When did this happen? I'm exited.

I'm glad you asked. The forums aren't combined, but you can now access the "Classic Cars" forum from classicmotorsports.net from the GRM forum page.
It's something we just started trying today, so we'll see how it works. The idea is to give Grassroots users more access to our other magazine and its website. Besides, there have been several threads on the GRM forum lately (Lotus Europa threads, Lancia Beta threads, etc...) that would be more appropriate for Classic Motorsports.
Go write or respond to something. It's fun!
Would you prefer to have all the forums lumped together from both sites? I'm not saying it will happen, but user feedback is certainly part of the equation if it doesn't hurt our traffic.

Actually I kinda wondered when something like this would happen. CM has good content on their side but the posting is few and far between. Hopefully this will bring the wealth of knowledge from that section over here and vice-versa.

I liked it before they split, but this new system is fine by me.

I like the new version. I really never went to the CM site in the old way. I will be sure to visit CM now just as much as GRM.

A follow up question for the peanut gallery-
What about the styling / user interface of the Classic Site versus the Grassroots Site? Do you prefer one or the other? Do you notice when you switch URLs?
Thanks for your feedback so far!

Flip a coin. I like CM content, but not enough to go there as a separate site. I think it'd be nice to see them recombine, but then all those old guys would have to listen to our jackassery.

Do the sites have to combine? Could all CM posts be seen on both CM and GRM? Sort of a dual CM posting.
I get to see CM here on GRM but CM'ers do not have to see GRM jackassery (love it). CM'ers would be less tainted by GRM.Edit: when does Sprockets go to print?

Looks like most of the recent threads on the CM discussion boards have been started by staff members. Probably a good thing to combine. There's a lot of people on this side that have cars and interests that cross over.
On the styling/interface side - the GRM side has easier or at least more intuitive navigation (or I'm just used to it) and does a better job using the available screen real estate. CM side seems to have giant borders with no content or linkies. Also see more action photos on the GRM side compared to static photos on CM (i.e bmw rally car through a stream vs. Iso Grifo on brick pavers).
izzat enough feedback for grm or cm stickers????

Styling wise, I miss the old board.
Combining wise, I agree about them being old men and us being jackasses.

no preference, but the difference in the interface is obvious....also, I didn't see any thread there that I could justify posting to.

I wasn't very happy when they split, so I'm happy to see them somewhat combined again... would rather see GRM and CMS as titles in the same forum with daughter boards.
I rarely go to the CMS front page. Usually because I go to the forums from the quick links at the bottom or side bar of the GRM pages.

I do miss the style of the old boards. In complete honesty, I have given up caring about classics since I have not been able to read the Classics Forum. I have also not renewed my sub to Classic as the topiics and variety of cars has drifted farther away from GRM.
(full disclosure)

Much like any club, everyone pays the same dues. (bear with me)
You get 10% or so that are hard core, there for every event, volunteer, knowlegable and help out. You have ~50% that are there, help and are the D of the bell curve, average. Pay dues and take out what they want. Then the folks that pay what you pay, you see once a year, they don't take as much if anything from the system.
I know, we don't pay dues, but the analogy is from my sailing days.
I'm a Classic kinda guy. I like it, read it, relish it, have experience with it. Everyday? Maybe not. As a clicker to the GRM site, you bet I'll visit more often; as I did before.
Maybe some of the CM folks will visit here more often and spend some time walking us through some of our silly projects.
We do have some silly ones, eh?

It's bad enough they hae to keep telling you to get off their lawns.

I think it has something to do with the space on the left

After some internal debate, we're divorcing the CMS and GRM forums again. I'm trying to find other ways to make it easy for users to be involved with both forums, so please be patient while we try a few other ideas.

So the old guys couldn't make it a whole week with us jackasses, eh?

Aw, I liked at least having the main CM forum cross post. It actually got me answers to my vintage racing question - from Our Exalted Ruler, no less.
Gotta be honest, if I didn't have specific vintage questions, I wouldn't be going over there. No fault of that forum, it's just that I know all these jackasses so well, I'll probably keep bugging them.
This place is much more my style.

Shucks. I liked having them combined.
It seems like the amount of traffic on the CM board is a lot less than the GRM board, if nothing else it may improve participation there.
