8 a year.

It's 8 a year because they put care into the content. They'd have to double the staff to squeeze in the "other" 4 issues.

Yup, you're getting your money's worth....
I'd love to have 12 a year; however, the 8 I do get has never left me dissatisfied

8 a year's actually an improvement. Back in the "AutoX" days, it was bi-monthly. Here's a tip, tho: A lot of the same staff works on Classic Motorsports as well. I'm into older cars, so I subscribed. It's bi-monthly, and seems to show up when I'm "in-between" issues of GRM.
Imagine our guys with more money to spend and better "connections" (Pete Brock just started writing a column over there), and that's pretty much what CM's like. I like it, and just re-subscribed.

ok, phew...i thought i was going to have to kick the mailmans ass, lol
I fully appreciate the work they put into it, I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't getting ripped off somehow.
(i'm not saying GRM is/was, but someone in between, ya kno?)

lol I have heard stories of issues of GRM having smudged page corners and creased bindings, and showing up a few days later in some areas than others... as though that copy had been leafed through for a few days before being delivered. Not sure who could be doing that in between GRM HQ shipping them and the postman delivering it
im just sayin...

Thanks for the kind words. The same core staff that does GRM also produces Classic Motorsports. We then add a few different flavors so it has its own unique taste.

In reply to David S. Wallens:
Funny thing, I only subscribed after we had that guy here in the forum who was insisting Motorsports Marketing Inc. was about to go under. But I like it more and more with every issue. That article in the last one by Tony A2Z about F5000 was fantastic. But I have to admit...the Tiger articles are the ones that caught me (of course, I got there after the Midget project was mostly done
). I could actually see Tim seeing that thing in the barn and saying "this will keep the British car guys subscribing!"..and then having to do some good old-fashioned GRM-style fabrication on the bent/torn stuff after y'all discovered the damage.
Like I said, CM is the GRM attitude, but with a little more money. I always wondered what I'd do if I had a little more green around...with CM, now I know.
BTW: Good luck with the small-bore vintage series you're sponsoring..and we'll see everyone at the Mitty!

When I lived in Hollywood, I had a hell of a time getting my issues. They'd show up a month late if at all. I think GRM sent out a duplicate for almost every issue of my subscription. Letters to the postmaster gave no joy ("What do you want me to do about it?"). Now I am subscribing from Glendale, CA and the mail is a well-greased operation. My subscription copies arrive before the newsstand copies, as it should be. I'll be reupping at the end of the term.

Jerry, that's good to hear. The subscriber copies all leave the printer at the same time, but once they're in the mail we have little control. If an issue ever arrives mangled or damaged, though, let us know and we'll send a replacement. Obviously it's in our best interest to keep you reading our magazines.

So approximately what 4 months will I have to go on pilgrimage to keep from going bananas?

Dirty little secret: The 8 issues a year are evenly spaced--we pretty much mail one every 6-7 weeks. So no pilgrimage needed. Or you can take 8 short ones.

I never get my issues on time. I'm lucky to get them at all. Sometimes I'll find them about 3 months after they're new. I really need to change my address for those months I'm at school, cause I have no idea what dad does with them.

Next time y'all are riding around together, watch him to see if he's checking out Miatas. Then you'll know...

Margie, you gotta spill...it seems that my CM issues somehow show up in those little gaps between the GRM arriving in the box.
Is it just my imagination, or does production on CM really end up that way? I'm not being a conspiracy theorist here...I just think it's funny, and wondering if I'm right.
Of course, if I am right, maybe I can convince some of these folks to subscribe to CM as well...
PS: When the berkeley are we going to see something other than paint booth pics of your damn Corvair in CM? Good grief, Joe's TR6 isn't an "official project car" either..but there's certainly been more pix of it over there than there have been of yours..

Classic comes out every 8-9 weeks. Its spacing is pretty much completely independent of Grassroots... which causes us all sorts of contortions on the production end.
And keep your eye out: The Corvair is about to bust out with all sorts of stories. It's back on the road. And awesome.

Great news. My favorite aunt had one of those when they were new. Looking forward to it!

OK, June 2010 issue arrived today in Glendale, CA so you can figure out how long it took to get here. I would guess the mail service here is as fast as one can get an issue across the country. When I mail stuff east from Glendale, it arrives a day earlier than it did from Hollywood.

I have 2 subscriptions to Grassroots but they never arrive the same day...think the mail people are reading one??
