Okay, so a picture of my PT GT Cruiser is on page 111 of the November issue of GRM with the caption of “You Can Run Just About Anything,” but it counts, right?

I was online with the website PTCrew.com where most of the performance oriented PT owners hang out and I saw a post about a clean PT in GRM. Several other friends posted comments that the picture looked like it was my PT. I recognized it and waited for my issue of GRM to show. All I can say is thank you! I always wanted to find a way to get my PT into GRM, but I never thought I would see it happen.

I have a great friend, Jami, who coaxed me into joining NASA and running my PT in HPDE. I was using my 05 Automatic Trans PT in HPDE events until the discussion came up in finding a 5 speed for track days. So, I started to look for a used 5 speed PT GT to run and found one with 72k miles on her. The PT was high mileage and abused, but the price was right. I then went to work on sorting the suspension, lightweight rims and good tires, adding some power, and then taking her out to have fun. I would recommend finding an 03 GT if you decide to do what I have since that year you could get the GT without options such as leather interior, sunroof, and rear spoiler. I have run my 03 GT turbo 5 speed in HPDE for several years and she is a lot of fun to drive. I am certainly not the fastest out there, but I dare to say I have had the most fun out on the track! I have learned so much on car control, driving the right lines, and getting along with everyone else on the track that during those weekends that I forget about the rest of the world. There is nothing like it.

Yes, I do drive something different, not the fastest, not the slowest, not the best, not the worst, but perfect for me at this time. I can afford it and not worry if I make a mistake. So, can I get a t-shirt now….or least a sticker? Thank you for a great magazine! Jeff Meyer

Cool and, yes, as the story says you can track just about anything. Glad to have made your day. As far as stickers, drop me an e-mail and we'll get some right out to you.

I understand the "Race anything" just have fun idea. I have Auto-Xed a '69 Sunbeam Alpine 2dr hardtop GT, a Toyota stationwagon (Corrolla) among other things. Next year when I get back into it I will be using my Kia Sephia. Why? because it is what I have and I miss Auto-X.

Hey, if it has four wheels and is safe/reliable, then you can autocross it.

I remember my parents having a 69 GT Sunbeam Alpine GT and my dad loved that car....then they traded it in on a Volvo and someone blew the Sunbeam up going up the coast.

Mine got totaled by a Pick-up turning right from the left turn lane in front of me. I loved that car, it cornered like an Alfa. With the inside front tire 3 inches off the ground. Then you knew you were going fast enough.
