Recently I noticed a new red bar atop the Discussion Boards for registering or logging in.

Around the same time - I noticed that I have to log in. A lot. Approximately each time I visit or if I leave the page on my screen for more than 20 minutes - when I click something that makes a new server request, I'm now logged out.

As an additional observation - this is especially irritating because when I log back in, from a post I'd like to reply to - it takes me to the site home page instead of landing me where I was headed before I was logged in. Were it not for this little indirection bit the logging in would not be nearly as pesky.

The dark(er) red bar is telling you that you aren't logged in. It's not a new feature, nor have we made any changes to the site in the last few weeks.

When did this start happening to you? Same web browser as you've always used? Have you done any updates on your computer lately?

Nothing new... Ubuntu 9.10 on intel, Firefox 3.6.8, no updates or patches in a month or so. It started last night. It is like you changed your session timeout (or enabled one) but I'll go root out all the GRM cookies and get fresh ones and retry just in case I have a corrupt one.

Just so there is closure... it is better today. I did delete existing cookies but didn't bother to clear cache or anything. I started with a clean, fresh FF session and so far its acting normal.

I'll chock it up to vibrations in the ether.

I'm very, very, very glad to hear that our site is playing nicely with someone.

It's not playing nicely with me, but I'm doing it on purpose.

a quote from the coined phrases thread:

Some news and other issues have brought this back to my attention:

If you find that you are being logged out when you navigate to the message boards, click "refresh" on your browser and it should sign you back in. GPS's solution of a fresh restart also seems to help.

We're preparing for a major rework of both ClassicMotorsports.net and Grassrootsmotorsports.com in the coming months, and we assure you this problem (and many others) won't be making the transition with us.

As always, we appreciate your patience and continued participation.

That's a priority, but you'll see much more comprehensive changes than that.
