    car: 2003 Mazda6 with in-dash 6-disc changer.

it was cold this morning and i probably should've waited until everything warmed up, but i didn't. i pushed the load button and put in a disc. it clicked and clunked a couple times, then ejected. so i waited a minute and tried again. this time it loaded but didn't start playing.

at that time, i thought it made perfect sense to load another disc. :-(

so now there are two CDs in there, but the player does not acknowledge them. i want them back. anyone got any suggestions that do not involve sawzalls, fire, or miata/E30/P71?

Never had a car with an in-dash cd changer, but I'd just pull the unit out of the dash and see if the CDs are just out of place.

I've heard this is not an uncommon problem with oem in-dash disc changers. Supposedly disconnecting the battery ground helps with such things. Sorry I'm not much help.

If it's the same used in the P5 of that vintage....good luck. I think after destroying my headunit I got my discs back.

Maybe a power cycle might help. Or hold the eject button and turn the ignition on on.

Not that it's especially relevant to this this thread, it was a tiny bit amusing when I removed the stereo from my NA Miata when replacing the center dash "tombstone' panel. Under the "head unit" I found a copy of "Oral Fixation" by Shakira.

I probably could have blackmailed the previous owner and gotten some of my purchase price back.

    Maybe it's hungry?

Yank the whole stereo out with an XJ Cherokee.

Does the unit have a reset button? My mom's old 626 single spinner did this once, and resetting the unit spit out the CD.
